Integrated Massage and Cupping | Shawnte’ Peterson | 6 CE hours | Currituck, NC @ Eden Day Spa
Jan 21 @ 9:00 am – 3:30 pm

Class Description

This therapeutic integrated technique uses vacuum cups to enhance the manual manipulation of tissues creating a negative pressure releasing areas of tightness in the fascia, muscles and connective tissue. Cupping is an ancient art form that in Traditional Chinese Medicine opens up stagnant chi or blocked energy flow. We will integrate this technique with our massage technique in order to loosen adhesions in the muscle and bring hydration while facilitating an environment in the tissue to promote healing, relaxation and improve function. Cups are constantly moving and are never left stagnant more than 90 seconds, therefore stimulating flow of old lymph fluid and blood.

This new outreach program was formed from the concept of MERT (Massage Emergency Response Team), which was established in 1989 following the Loma Prieta, California Earthquake. The growth of this program is continuing to evolve in NC.  We would like to invite you, along with AMTA Licensed Massage & Bodywork Therapists from our neighboring states, to join us in this training and, upon completion of training, become a member of our Southeast Region Community Service Massage Team!!

Clinical Massage Strategies:  Functional Assessment and Treatment of the Pelvic Girdle (14 CE)

Presenters:  Sarah DeBerardinis, Beverly Johnson (Integrity Trainings)

Class Description

Functional assessment allows a practitioner to make sound decisions about how, or if, a client should be treated. It is a process of gathering information, providing more data to use in clinical thinking and problem solving that results in quicker, more effective ways to help your clients. Detailed functional assessment is a critical tool in understanding a client’s pain and discomfort, identifying contraindicated conditions, and determining whether massage is appropriate.
Improve your clinical skills by developing competence in testing and treating musculoskeletal dysfunction of the pelvic girdle. In this workshop, you will learn a systematic approach that will help you develop the most effective treatment plans. We will cover the anatomy and kinesiology of the region, basic range of motion and Manual Resistive Testing, anatomically specific massage techniques, and clinical reasoning skills. This material provides a useful introduction to clinical massage strategies and deepens proficiency for therapists of all skill levels. It will enable you to help your clients with a wide range of musculoskeletal problems, and to work more efficiently to achieve greater results.
