Fundamentals of Fascial Therapy (Hands-on)

8am-5pm, Wednesday August 8 (Pre-Convention) | 8 Credit Hours

Pete Pfannerstill, BCTMB, has been a licensed sports massage therapist since 1997. The founder of UltraSports Massage Therapy, Inc. in Tampa, he specializes in myofascial sports massage, structural integration and the Kinesio Taping® method. 

Take an inside look at practical applications of fascial therapy. Explore various styles, techniques and philosophies of fascial therapy, and the physiological responses of both the fascia and the rest of the body to the techniques.

Note: This is part of an in-depth AMTA CE program outlining fundamental fascial therapy information and techniques.


Headaches and Migraines (Hands-on)

8am-5pm, Wednesday August 8 (Pre-Convention) | 8 Credit Hours

Til Luchau is the author of Advanced Myofascial Techniques, Vol 1. A Certified Advanced Rolfer, he was on the faculty of the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration for over 20 years. He teaches internationally and is the director of Advanced-Trainings.com.

Lean the many different types of headaches, as well as the different sources associated with each so you can more effectively work with clients who need relief from headache and migraine pain. Hands-on work will help participants more fully understand how what helps with one headache may actually make another worse.

Techniques for Sports Massage Therapists (Hands-on)

8am-5:30pm, Friday, August 10 | 8.5 Credit Hours

Lee Stang has been a massage therapy educator since 1996. She has extensive experience teaching anatomy/physiology, clinical massage techniques and sports massage at the CT Center for Massage Therapy and Bridges To Health Seminars. Lee travel internationally as a massage therapist with the Women’s Tennis Association.

With a focus on utilizing critical thinking in client assessment, this workshop will help you learn techniques, contraindications, session planning and other valuable information to take your sports massage career to the next level. Receive hands-on instruction—including a shoulder injury case study—and tips to help you succeed in this specialty.

Foundations in Oncology Massage (Hands-on)

8am-5pm, Friday, August 10 | 8.5 Credit Hours

Felicia Newsome is a licensed massage therapist specializing in oncology massage since 2005, when she began oncology massage training at Memorial Sloane-Kettering’s Bendheim Integrative Medicine Center. Later, she joined the integrative health team at NYU Langone Perlmutter Cancer Center, and in 2014 co-founded the CATA Oncology Massage Training Program to educate massage therapists about the latest concepts in cancer care.

Daniel Verina, MSN, RN, ACNP-BC, is a registered nurse in oncology and practices at Mount Sinai Medical Center in the Multiple Myeloma Service. Since 2012, Daniel has been an adjunct professor at William Paterson University, teaching Advanced Pathophysiology and Health Assessment. He also is a member of International Multiple Myeloma Foundation Nursing Leadership Board.

Get an introduction to safe oncology massage practices. Review oncology massage basics, including how cancer is defined , cancer risk factors, side effects and palliative care and hands-on techniques to apply in your massage practice.
