This is our spa certification course in pregnancy and postpartum massage. This course was designed to offer spas a two-day course for training their therapists so they can offer this service to their spa clientele. This course teaches complete protocols for both pregnancy and postpartum sessions. NEVER TURN A PREGNANT CLIENT AWAY AGAIN! Gain the skills to work with your client’s changing body. Be part of the magic and mystery of pregnancy – honoring and supporting the mother-baby bond. Feel confident giving a safe, therapeutic and firm massage throughout your client’s pregnancy and postpartum.

Nurturing the Mother® has certified massage therapists in pregnancy and postpartum massage since 1990. This method utilizes a comfortable, secure side-lying position to avoid undue pressure on a growing abdomen and the lower back. Mothers are completely supported by pillows, keeping hip, knee and ankle on the same level to avoid pulling on the sacroiliac joint and to maximize blood and lymph circulation. Side-lying is the safest for mother and baby, and educates the client about the ideal sleeping position.

Participants need to bring:   Massage table, massage lubrication (oil, lotion or cream) unscented or light lavender, 2 sets of sheets – one for each day, 4-5 pillows with pillowcases (1-2 king & 3 standard size, at least one standard pillow needs to be thick and dense for under the head in side-lying position and allow room for the shoulder)
