Continuing Education Classes with Janet “Wolf” Blevins

August 3-4, 2024

 

We would like to invite you to join us in our continuing education classes presented by Janet “Wolf” Blevins!  Come to one or come to all classes. This 5-Day event will include the following continuing education classes:

 

Day 1 – August 3, 2024 – 9:00 am – 6:00 pm – Asian Cupping & Guasha (8 CE Hours)

Learn meridian, acupressure points and cupping applications, contraindications for cupping and the correct amount of tissue to pull into a cup.  Cupping and Guasha (a type of scrapping that physical therapists call Graston but is centuries older) for frozen shoulder, back pain, carpal tunnel and inflammation reduction are just a few of the topics we cover. Registration Fees: AMTA Members – $90 | Non-Members – $130

Day 2 – August 4, 2024 – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Ethics (3 CE Hours)

Tired of the same old boring ethics? We all know what’s ethical but when situations catch us off guard…..be ready to laugh your glutes off as 3 hours fly by. This Ethics class is Free to AMTA Members. Registration Fees: AMTA Members – Free | Non-Members – $50

Day 2 – August 4, 2024 – 1:00 – 4:00 pm – Acupressure for Bladder and Kidney Meridians (3 CE Hours)

In this class we will learn about acupressure points on the Bladder and Kidney Meridians. These acupressure points coincide with addressing Back and Knee pain, as well as Plantar Fasciitis. Registration Fees: AMTA Members – $35 | Non-Members – $50

Day 2 – August 4, 2024 – 4:00 – 6:00 pm – Gemstone Facial Massage (2 CE Hours)

We will go over the healing properties of gemstones but more importantly the application for a relaxation massage as well as acupressure points for sinuses and headaches. Registration Fees: AMTA Members – $25 | Non-Members – $35

 

 

These classes are approved by the NCBTMB for the CE hours noted above.

Cancellation Policies:

  • Must cancel 10 days or more from class date to receive a full refund.
  • Any cancellations made between 5-9 days from class will receive  1/2 of registration fee refunded.
  • Any cancellations made between 2-4 days from class will receive  1/4 of registration fee refunded.
  • No refunds will be granted for cancellations made the day before class, on the day of class or are a no-show.

There is generally a 15-minute public comment period* at each meeting, at the Board’s discretion.

Hip Mobility & Pain Syndromes – (8 CE Hours)

Presenter:  Lori-Ann Gallant-Heilborn

 

This course will cover the musculature of the pelvic girdle along with ligamentous connections and how repetitive strain activities along with injuries can create pain syndromes and limitations. We will discuss a wide range of pathologies that can affect structure & function of the pelvic girdle.
 
There will be practical application of reducing quadricep restrictions and pain. Hamstrings & adductors will be addressed as well. Discussion on the effects of muscle tension with psoas & iliacus and how it negatively impacts the pelvic girdle and gait.

 

Each participant should wear comfortable clothing (possibly layers)

 

This class is approved by the NCBTMB for 8 CE hours.

Cryotherapy Ice Treatment Applications 101 – (8 CE Hours)

Presenter:  Lori-Ann Gallant-Heilborn

 

This class will cover an introduction into the various cryotherapy ice applications for the successful treatment of muscular and connective tissue disorders and injuries. There are 4 various ice applications that can be utilized in an office setting to include a private office, sports event setting along with a spa atmosphere. Practical application of each application will be experienced during this training.
 
  • Ice plunge – soak
  • Ice Cup
  • Ice “pillow”
  • Ice Compression
  • Explain in detail the use of ICE
  • Effects of ice treatments
  • Decreases circulation
  • Decreases metabolic activities
  • Decreases inflammation
  • Indications & Contraindications will be discussed as well.
